The pilot can interrupt auto-docking or auto-launching at any time during the process by increasing the throttle slightly or manually cutting power to the Advanced Docking Computer.Īs with the SDC, the ADC is not error-proof. When launching from a Landing Pad, the normal "Launch" command will be replaced with "Auto Launch", and the module will guide the ship away from the Landing Pad and to a short distance beyond its Station or Surface Port, where it will relinquish control to the pilot. When within docking request range (7.5 km) of a port, requesting docking permission and throttling down to zero will turn control of the ship over to the module, which will then guide the ship to its assigned Landing Pad automatically. The Advanced Docking Computer functions similarly to the Standard Docking Computer. Raising the throttle manually will disengage the module. The launch function can be initiated from the landing pad options. To engage the docking function, the pilot must move into range of the destination before throttling down to zero. For long range passenger missions, I'd go with a Dolphin, Orca, or AspX depending on how good the mission stacking was going. The Advanced Docking Computer provides cutting edge guidance control to the ship's computer, offering a further launch option alongside the assisted docking function. I have my Beluga at Ceos right now doing VIP missions and I'm happy with it. I don't fly one out of a combination of it being the ugliest fucking boat in this game and out of impotent protest for how much better it is at almost everything than other specialty ships. If you have the cash and confidence to run it shieldless it's a good option for short VIP missions because you can run it without a fuel scoop much more safely than any other ship.īut I do agree with your overall point. It has the longest range of any ship before refueling because of the 128T fuel tank which is larger than any other ship. What the Beluga is good for is short trips within the bubble. Still wouldn't beat it on paper but it would be better than the current situation.

If the Beluga's size four was switched to an unrestricted size five, and two size threes were changed to four, it would compare much better with the Anaconda. So your only option for protection is sacrificing a size six slot while the Anaconda can fit a shield as small as a size three. Except all of the Beluga's size five internals are restricted. The big problem with the Beluga is that the minimum shield size for the hull mass is five. With just passenger cabins the Beluga is about 26 million cheaper to fit than an Anaconda. The Anaconda is definitely not cheaper to outfit. Fully outfitted with cabins the Anaconda can hold more actual passengers than the Beluga, but for VIP missions this doesn't matter so much. They both max out at the same 11 cabins, which is tied for more than any other ships. The Anaconda can not fit more cabins than a Beluga.
